A little about me.

Born in Casper, Wyoming and raised in Federal Way Washington by a pair of geologists, I was fascinated by the natural world right from the start.  An active childhood of camping, hiking and boating has continued on well into adulthood, with my dual professions of photographer and chef having taken me all over the world.

For a rocky mountain boy, I sure have spent a lot of time at sea!

I commercial fished in the Gulf of Alaska and the Bering Sea for almost ten years, before graduating to a small cruiseship and several private yachts throughout Southeast Alaska and down to Mexico. Most recently working on a research vessel out of Honolulu for the University of Hawaii, criss-crossing the Pacific Ocean from Taiwan all the way down to Guam with camera in hand to record all my adventures.

I enjoy narrowing a scene down to its strongest components, applying the elements of design to create movement, balance and intrigue, with attention to detail, specifically shape, line and texture.

I have been represented internationally by Getty images for almost twenty years.  My images have appeared in National Geographic, Amercian Photo, Aaska Airlines magazine, PBS Channel 9 and The Seattle Times to name a few. My clients include Microsoft, The New England Aquarium-PEW Fellows, University of British Columbia, Lockheed Martin and CH2M Hill. I have been part of numerous exhibitions at The Frye Art Museum, The Benham Gallery, Earth Day Invitational ('97, '98, '99, '00) and several private collections. I have published two award winning calendars 'Cooking and Cruising' featuring all of my photography and most of my recipes. I am currently working on a book project and my next great exhibition!
